iPod will not restore!

I have a 30 gig 5th gen iPod, and I am trying to restore it.
I've looked everywhere, but nothing helps. My iPod says
"Connect to your computer.
Use iTunes to restore."

So I connect it to my computer and restore it. I let the thing "reset" but when it does it just says the same thing on the screen. And when I attach it to iTunes it says
"iTunes has deteced an iPod in recovery mode, you need to restore it before using."
or something like that.
so I restore again and that doesn't work either.

I also tried that disc format thing jn My Computer with the FAT32 and whatnot.

I've also tried changing the drive letter two or three different times.

But that same screen stays on my iPod.
"Connect to your computer.
Use iTunes to restore."

HELP!!!
How do I restore my iPod?

Follow the steps here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136

Even if there are no new drivers available, reload your USB drivers. Then try running Scandisk on your computer and repeat changing the drive to M and formatting (FAT32). Additionally, make sure you are using a rear USB port on your computer, disconnect any other USB devices other than your keyboard and mouse and disable any software that is running that might conflict with the iPod, especially antivirus/antispyware software.
