if you use your mouse to move the control on the effect that you want to automate then on your computer keyboard hit apple + L you will get the learn assignment page.
then you would move your mod wheel. this will assign the mod wheel to control the effect parameter you have chosen.
Also, if you assign the mod wheel to "Automation Quick Access", then you can use the mod wheel to automate any parameter you select for automation, without having to constantly learn parameters all the time.
Anyone know how to do this with a motorized fader? I'm trying to have the motorized fader follow the cc1 automation of the selected track to prevent jumping from automating string rides.
It depends on the control surface, ("Feedback only works for supported control surfaces, and not all settings are available for all controls.") but in the controller asignments window there is a "feedback" parameter with a bunch of options, and the feedback values should set the motorised control.
There are some other options such as feedback off in touch mode to prevent the motors fighting the user and so on.

It probably relies on a supported control surface having feedback definitions in the control surface module in Logic, so if you are not using a directly supported control surface, automatic feedback probably won't be available.
Yes, it's supported under the Mackie Control emulation mode. but it seems that once you reassign a fader to CC1 all feedback stops UNLESS it is assigned to a specific midi channel and port. Using the 'selected track' setting seems to kill the motorization.
