ITunes and DCOM

Ive got several of these DCOM event log entries and the GUID points to the "iTunes.Application" program ID.

When I updated to the latest iTunes, the events are more numerous. I also noticed the iTUNES did not automatically show up when my ipod is connected.

Heres the Event ID:
The server {DC0C2640-1415-4644-875C-6F4D769839BA} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

Heres the key/value pairs for the GUID:

OK here's what to do.
Start > Run > dcomcnfg

Double-click on Component services. It will expand and show you a Computers folder. Keep expanding the tree until you see "DCOM Config" and the items listed under DCOM Config.

Find iTunes in that list.
Right-click > properties > Security tab

There are 3 sections:
Launch & Activation Permissions
Activation Permissions
Configuration Permissions

Select the "Customize" radio button on each one and press Edit. Then press the Add button and add the user name from your first account that is wonky.
Then press the "Check Names" button. Then press OK to save the changes.

Remember to make this change in all 3 sections - Launch, ACtivation, and Configuration.
