Sony Handycam DCR PC100 and iMovie HD 6

I have an iMac G5 with the latest operating system and iMovie HD 6. I am trying to connect a hanydcam (Sony DCR PC 100 - miniDV) to the G5 with a firewire cable. When opening iMovie and connecting the cable and turning on the handycam, iMovie will not "see" the device. Any suggestions? Are there drivers I should have that I am missing? Did software come with the handycam that would solve this problem. Apple told me this should work and the DCR PC 100 is a supported device (so I am told). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email at dlipsher@mac.com if you have any thoughts. Thanks.

Hi d

Most of us tries t answer here to make more people possibly to
search the forum and find an answer.

Let's hope it is something simple.
a. You set Your Camera to Play-Edit (or VTR on mine) - not record (Tape or Camera)
b. On some Cameras one has to go into the Menu in the Camera and set it
to DV-out or something alike (may be: A/V-> DV out).
c. FW-connection - You already figured thisone out but You might test another Cable. This is often a reported problem.

If still stuck - keep in tuch !!

I've a long trouble shooting list with understandibly to nearly occult suggestions.

Yours Bengt W
