Slow Firewire 800 with LaCie d2 320GB HDD

When transferring a large file (e.g. 700MB) to the LaCie d2 via Firewire 800, I am only getting about 26 MB/sec. This seemed a bit slow, so I reconnected the LaCie via Firewire 400 and got the same exact speed. (USB 2.0 was slower at 19 MB/sec as expected.) I did not have any other Firewire devices connected during this test and nothing daisy-chained to the LaCie.

Has anyone else experienced slower than expected speeds with their FW800 connected hard drives?
