Ipod restore loop

I'm having the exact same problem! I get the "your Ipod has been restored" message, but immediately comes back to the "Itunes has discovered and Ipod" message. Help!!!

Have you reformatted your iPod in Windows? FAT32 format, don't do a quick format. After you do this, Restore your iPod in iTunes.

I'm having strange problems, too - apple screen just keeps blinking on & off, songs have been lost, it restored itself and my PC won't recognize my nano even in disk mode.
All the support results do is tell me to fiddle with my PC but it is most definitely my nano. Should I send it in for service?

Reformat to FAT32 by connecting your ipod then right-clicking on "My Computer" and selecting "Manage." Go to "Storage > Disk Management" and you should see the ipod as a disc. Right-click on it and select "Format" then follow your nose.

I had the same issue, however I am unable to format the ipod as it appears as an "unreadable" disk in the Computer Management console.

Any ideas haow I can correct this?

Try this:

1 - Force your iPod into disk mode, following the steps in this article.

2 - Connect your iPod to your computer.

3 - Open "My Computer".

4 - Right-click on your iPod, and click on "Format".

5 - Select the "Format Type" to be FAT32, and make sure that Quick Scan is not selected. Then, click on "OK" (I belive that's what the button says) to begin the formatting process.

6 - After the format is complete (it might take a while), restore your iPod in iTunes.

But first, if you have the "recovery mode loop", have you tried assigning your iPod a different drive letter?

I'm having this same problem, while out and about my 4gig 1st gen nano crashed, and when I try and restore it, I get stuck in the restore loop.

I am unable to reformat it or change the drive letter, even in disk mode. In disk management it marks my ipod as unreadable. At this point do I just send it in to apple?

I just sent my iPod back to Apple. Fortunately it's still under warranty.

Have you enabled disk use on this iPod?

Also, run Scandisk on it.
