Symantec Antivirus Error

Forgive me is this is the wrong place to post this question, but I have a question about Norton. I have an intel imac (10.4.9) which had Norton Anitvirus on it. I thought I took it off by uninstalling, but everytime I start my mac up I get a message that says "Symantec AntiVirus Auto-Protect could not load the scan engine. Please run LiveUpdate to get the latest version. (Code: 6)

I don't want Norton on my machine...I just want it to start up without this message.

Thanks in advance for any advice...

thanks..I've tried that link and I can download the RemoveSymantecMacFiles fine and I follow the directions by double clicking on the folder and all it does is open the Terminal Application. Apparently I should have a place to type in the command to run the script (type 1 the directions say) but there is no place to type anything?

Not knowing anything about Terminal..I looked around the menu's but came up with nothing.

It says in the directions I must be a Admin or Root user...which I am...

I hate to reply to my own message, but I figured this out and thought I might share in case others have the problem.

Within the Library folder/Start-up items/there was a folder called "SymAutoProtect". I trashed that and my I don't get that annoying error at start-up which is all I really wanted. Eventually I will have to figure out how to run that script to get rid of everything.
