disk wont eject

I drag the disk to the eject... nothing. I right click> eject disk...nothing.

Is there something else I can do? Why wont it eject??

I restarted and then it ejected. Was it just hung up for some reason?

Any program from iTunes, to DVD Player if it needs access to the optical drive will hold the drive hostage until reboot. If you quit everything except the Finder and it won't eject, you can add an Eject command also to the menubar using System -> Library -> CoreServices -> Menu Extras -> Eject.menu.

In addition, the eject key on 10.4.9 has been set to be less sensitive than previous operating systems so you don't accidently eject your disk.
