Replace G5 OEM Video Card to Run New 30-inch Monitor

Pretty sure I have Dual 2.5GHz SuperDrive M9457LL/A here:
http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G5_June2004.html
With ATI RADEON 9600 XT 8X AGP Pro graphics ADC/DVI

I was shocked today when Apple Support told my new 30-inch Apple monitor couldn't get the native 2560x1600 resolution because the Apple video card didn't support it.

Anyway... is there some replacement option to swap out the OEM with another card that supports the 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display?

Dual 1GHz MDD (not FW), Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The AGP cards Apple sold that have dual-link DVI ports needed for 30" are:
ATI Radeon 9650 XT (one single-link, one dual-link DVI)
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT DDL (two dual-link DVI)
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL (two dual-link DVI)
Apple doesn't sell these as retail items, but you might find some at

There are two new graphics boards that will work:
ATI Radeon® X800 XT MAC Edition RoHS 256MB AGP (one ADC, one dual-link DVI)

ATI Radeon® 9600 Pro PC & MAC Edition RoHS 256MB AGP (one single-link, one dual-link DVI)

The ATI cards may also be available at
