How do I uninstall fancontrol?

The folder isn't in applications and I removed it from system preferences but it won't let me drag the .dmg file to the trash because it says it is still in use. I tried to see if installing it again would remove the old one but the installer won't even install it.

I want to try and install it fresh as I messed with the fan speed too much and it sounds like they are constantly running.

The fans in the MBP are constantly running. They always have. The fans idle at about 2000 RPM. Fan Control isn't an application, it's a preference pane and a startup item. The startup item will be located either in /Library/StartupItems/ or in /Home/Library/StartupItems/. You must move the two files to the Trash, restart the computer, then you should be able to empty the Trash.
