Trying to get my Macs to talk

I just upgraded to a MacBook Pro in December and I REALLY want to get my old files off my G3. I never upgraded past 8.6. How do I get the two to talk?

Ethernet, Firewire, what would be the best solution to get these two to communicate?

Thanks in advance!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.9), PowerBook G3

CAElky,

By far, the easiest is to create an ethernet LAN. Your newer computer will auto configure the ethernet port so you do not even need a crossover cable.

Not the article I was looking for but the concept still applies:

Even WalMart carries ethernet Cat5 cable so all you need next is instructions. I will find the Carlson article and post back.

Because your older computer does not have at least OS 9, you will have to initiate sharing on the older computer, and mount the newer computer's drive on the older computer. Macs running 7.5.3 and later can mount other Mac's drives/folders on its desktop via TCP/IP if you use the "Server IP Address" button in the AppleShare Chooser Extension.
