ITunes will not detect Music

I already have a fair amount of MP3's in which I have changed the directory to point to where they are in ITunes however ITunes will not acknowledge that there are files in the location. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get ITunes to recognize my MP3's?

Or is there a manual way to add songs via the drive letter and forget ITunes?

Just changing the location of the iTunes Music folder in the iTunes preferences won't get the tracks into the iTunes Library (iTunes has no folder watching feature to automatically detect new additions). You have to then add the tracks to the iTunes library, either by using the Add To Library command or by dragging the tracks to the iTunes window. Have you done either of those?
