iCal, Sync, and Entourage

I removed Entourage a long time ago. I Sync my palm, iCal, and Address book to .mac. Sometimes, out of the blue, I get strange Sync error message that makes me reconcile difference between Entourage and iCal or Address book. Also, when I moved all my calendar to iCal it created a callender called "Entourage." I have recategorized every event to some other calendar on my iCal but still iCal creates an "Entourage" calendar (with nothing in it) that says "this calendar created by Microsoft Entourage." How can I keep Entourage from adding this calendar? Is that related to my Sync problem?

I want to remove every trace of Entourage. Please help.

There is, unfortunately, no easy way for a user to unregister a synchronization client like Entourage unless the developer of the application provides for that. Microsoft does not. [Bad Microsoft…] If you are willing to take the rather extreme step of starting all over with synchronization to resolve this issue, you can do this:

First, quit all sync-aware applications: iSync, iCal and the Address Book are examples, as well as any third-party applications such as Entourage, Transmit or Yojimbo where you have enabled synchronization with the Sync Service framework.

Enter this string in the Terminal application:

killall SyncServer syncuid; rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/SyncServices

Log out, then log back in. This process will blow out your entire truth database, taking the Entourage client with it.

Of course, you'll lose all legitimately registered clients and have to start all over with synchronization by enabling and reconfiguring each client, then performing an initial slow synchronization. This won't affect the data store for each application, so your synchronization data will remain intact.

At least there will be no future messages regarding Entourage…
