CD burning error - error code OX8002006D

Hi
I've just updated my G4 iMac to Tiger (a little late I know) and ever since I been getting an error when trying to burn CD's. The error code is OX8002006D and I rekon I get this code for 4 out of 5 attempts to burn a disc. I've run disc utility from the start up disc and it seems to have made no difference. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Steve

Just a note of interest.
You don't mention the brand of CD and DVD's you use.
Remember there is a huge difference in the Media you buy and choose.
There is also a big difference in the Software you use to burn with.
There are several schools of thought on th entire subject of burning period.
Apple burners are historiclly very picky, and do not like CHEAP Media.
Here is a good guide to use, it is for DVD but I would use like brands with CD's

As I mentioned above the software you use can and does have an affect on your success.

As well as the burning assist link above using Apple Software, don't forget, Roxio's Toast 8 is considered the easiest and best for Mac users

Thanks for your reply ....... however:
I've been using this make of CD for almost ever (Maxell) and apart from the odd disc in 3 years I've never had a problem with them. As for the software I just use the original software installed on my mac ....... again never had any problems with it until know.
Any more input would be much appreciated.
Cheers

A note of interest.
Just because you have used a particular brand from the go, doesn't mean there wasn't a bad one in the batch.
Make sure that you do periodic System Maintenance, which includes Repairing Permissions, as well as running Macjanitor, Cache Out X, and Onyx. These 3 free and shareware programs keep all of the excisive buildup cleaned out of your machine.

Don
thanks again for your reply. I've changed the batch of CD's that I've used for another (still the same make though) and am still having the same problem. The same error code keeps coming up for 4 out of every 5 attempts. I run first aid in disc utility from both the start up disc and the computer on a regular basis but don't use any of the other programs that you mentioned. Do you recommend running all three programs (Macjanitor, Cache Out X, and Onyx) or just one of them?
Cheers
Steve

OK, I also have this same problem! regard the error code: 0x8002006D.

(1) I have tried the iTunes preferences regarding different burn speeds to no avail. The error still remains.

(2) If it is the brand of cd's I am using, than why does the same (exact) cd that does not burn in the iMac G5. Work on the laptop G4 unit? (Memorex CD-R)

That should eliminate that problem or did I miss something regarding the CD's issues.

Does anyone have any ideals that would help regarding the error Code 0x8002006D otherwise?

Thxs
