I am new to the whole iPod thing. I got a 2nd gen. iPod shuffle recently. My computer will not allow me to DL Quicktime, which prevents me from DL-ing ITunes. Can I download music from Windows Media Player? If so, how? Do I have to have ITunes in order to use it or is there another way to get the music from my computer to my iPod?? Please help!!!

My computer will not allow me to DL Quicktime
You don't download QT separately. You download itunesetup.exe, of which QT is part of. It's not a separate download.

Why won't it allow you to download?
    What's the message?

Make sure you have any pop up blockers disabled.

I understant I do not DL it seperately. My computer will not allow QT to be installed at all. I do not know why, but I have had other issues with my computer. Turns out, I have to purchases an external hard drive, transfer everything to it and "restore" my computer. That was Sony's solution. But what I need to know is if I can use Windows media player to trandfer files to my ipod shuffle. I don't care about iTunes or Quick Time as long as don't NEED them in order to use my iPod.

WMP will not work for that.

Personally, I am not very fond of iTunes and as I
am using foobar2000 for playing music, I simply installed
myself a plugin for ipod and now I can transfer
music to my ipod without launching iTunes.
I find it very comfortable because foobar2000
itself is a very useful player without all those bells and whistles of iTunes.
    Cheers!

    I use Real Player (RP).

    RP Pro's:
    1. setting up iPod in RP is really EASY
    2. downloads/transfers are much FASTER

    RP Con:
    1. you have to subscribe to RP

    good luck..............
