Sony DCR-TRV250 Anyone successfully using one w/iMovie HD 6?

I was given an older Sony model, and for the life of me cannot get it to iLink out to or be controlled by my MacBook running the latest and greatest from Apple. I have searched all over the web and here but all things I've tried have not allowed me to import anything. I set the edit menu on the Sony to iLink, try rebooting a million ways but it just doesn't see it on the Mac inside iMovie HD. Could it be that this model is not compatable with iMovie? Has anyone else got one of these to work? The model is a digital 8, and has video on it I shot over the weekend. It's all there. I have an adapter for going from 4 to 6 pin fw, and then I plug in a standard fw cable to that adapter. It all seems to be able to work. Maybe a bad cable or fw connector? I'd hate to buy a new camera when this one seems to work, and I don't use video that much. Thoughts?

Mine works fine with iMovie 5. You might try to reset the firewire ports:

Shut down the computer, remove the battery and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour and try again.

I just looked through my PDF version of the manual and I cannot find any indication of an "edit menu" with an i.link option.

In any case, I don't think you need to set that. Try turning it off. I think that editing mode is for doing editing *in the camera* not for firewire transfer of playback to the computer.

I plugged in my firewire hard drive (I've been using it on my Windows machine lately) and it came up just fine on the Mac, so I don't think that the FW port is to blame. I'm wondering if the cable to the camera, or the port itself is dead. I needed to buy a little 4 to 6 pin adapter to attach to the standard 6 to 6 pin since my local computer store didn't have a 4 to 6 pin cable. Do you use a "standard" 4 to 6 pin FW? I know that Sony apparently doesn't sell a 4 to 6 pin cable.

The setting for the firewire that I've been playing with came from another older post on Sony's in general, which mentioned that if you go into the Menu > Others>Video Edit>Edit Set> i.Link can be selected.

The manual says it should just work. Might be the port. It's possible it's bad.

I'll go buy another cable and try again.
