PowerPoint won't open Hyperlinks

Hello. I am a mac newbie so please forgive my stupidity. I also tried to search for this answer but didn't see my scenario exactly.

I am an instructor and I have some flash animations that get opened in a web browser when I click the link in PowerPoint. Worked fine on my old Windows-based laptop. I get on my Macbook Pro, run the test to make sure the animations will work and it says I have everything I need. Open PowerPoint, start the presentation, try to click the link...nothing. I get out of the presentation and ctrl-click the link and choose open. It crashes PowerPoint everytime.

Any tips on what I could check? I hope it's just a setting I haven't noticed...

Rosetta crashing by the look of it ...

How does PowerPoint pass the file URL to the browser ?
Maybe paste a sample here
(I know it works on your PC which defaults to IE)

Do your Flash animations play OK if you drag then onto the browser icon ?

Have you the latest Flash Player and Plugins installed ?

This is how it worked on my laptop:
-insert CD; it auto-opens default browser
-browse content, select topic, unzip folder to harddrive
-open the sample PowerPoint in the folder, copy the link of the topic, paste it in my presentation
-show presentation, click the link, it opens default browser to show the topic

No they will not play off the CD either, which is why I'm thinking a setting may be off, yet the browser and plug-in tests all passed.... May just have to go without.
