Is Maxtor Shared Storage II compatible with AEBS (802.11n)

Hi there,

I have been using a Maxtor Shared Storage II (1 Tb) as NAS via airport express. That worked fine.

However, when I switched to AEBS, my Mac can't even detect the Maxtor Shared Storage II.

Need help. Any suggestion welcomed!

Thx in advance.

I think it might be worth starting from scratch with each component. Here's an idea of an approach:

1. Disconnect everything.
2. Make sure your MSS2 is accessible directly from your computer. Then at least you can rest easy your data is safe.
3. Then connect your AEBS. If you're connecting to an existing network, make sure your internet connection is working fine. If you're connecting directly to a cable/ADSL modem, likewise make sure this is fine, so you know the AEBS is okay.
4. Then connect your MSS2. From my experience, when doing that I needed to also restart (not reset) the AEBS the first time. Since then it's been fine.

It's possible this will help... it did for me on my first attempt.

Hi Littleurchin,

Does the Maxtor SS II show up in your Airport Utility app?

My maxtor SS II worked perfect when connected directly to my powermac via ethernet. But when I plugged the maxtor SS II into AEBS (and then restart everything), the AEBS still can detect the maxtor.

I already e-mailed to Maxtor as well.....

I don't know .......
