Can someone help me? I've recently crossed over from Windows and while delighted I made the move I still can't print my photos. I've gone onto the EPSON website, downloaded the correct installer (epson11775.dmg) and run it. But when I then connect the printer and run iPhoto it can't find the correct printer driver. I'm looking under EPSON, Epson PM... but "Epson PM 500" isn't there? What am I doing wrong - where can I locate the driver that the installation software installed?
I did that before - it downloads a file to the desktop called epson28087eu.sit
Where do I put this for Printer Setup to find it? I've tried to select it through Printer Setup using "other" but the download is greyed out and I can't select it.
It's not often you even need to install a driver for Mac.
Normal procedure is, physically connect the printer to the USB port, switch it on.
Open Printer Setup Utility (found in Applications/Utilities), click Add
You are then shown the Printer already selected, and the driver for it that came with the Mac is automatically loaded. Press OK and you're done.
That's what I would have done first. However to again install the driver, which would be updating the existing one, one just double clicks on the epson28087eu.sit package, which will open and run an installer which will install the driver files to their correct locations. You don't have to manually place them anywhere.
So the question is, can Printer Setup Utility see your printer when you click Add? If not you may have to select from there, in one of the dialogue boxes and select 'USB'.
However they are available on the Epson site as you knew! Thing is, a Mac novice such as myself didn't realise that .sit required stuffit expander. Once I downloaded that and ran stuffit, then rebooted all is well.
