Hybrid Hard drive for Mac

Hi,
I recently read up about some Hybrid Hard Drive. I am wondering, can we replace the HDD I have on my MBP, and replace it with a hybrid one. Will I be able to still install Mac OS X on it and launch faster? In a way like make the OS install on the flash bit.

MBP Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

From all that I've read, OS X is not yet compatible with hybrid drives.
