If i use an education discount...

I am trying to make the switch for a PC user to a Mac just cuz macs look awsome. I need a laptop for college and i think i will make an apple purchase from the website (since their is no apple stores here). I want to use the education discount but for some reason i get the feeling that if i use it, they will send the computer to my school, not to my home address. (I am still finishing highschool but i am accepted into college.) will this happen or will they send it here? i am sorry if this is a stupid question i am just very ignorant and i couldn;t find answers elsewhere. also, it seems like apple makes no concious effort to verify that i am truely a student at the intitute i claim i will be getting a discount from. I just click and there are discounts! I was just curois if they ask for a college email or a student ID # or something at check out. if someone could answer these two questions i will greatly appreciate it.

Hey,

I've used the student discount like crazy over the years to get all my computers throughout my grade school and current high school career. As you have noted Apple does not make a major effort to check anything to ensure that you really are an actual student. Anytime I use the discount, they do not check other than the "I Accept" panel prior to purchasing your items. They do not send the item purchased to your school, you can get the item sent to the location you choose, but I believe that a signature is required to acquire the package, so take that into account.

Hope this helps!

Why reward points? ( Quoted From Help & Terms of Use)

"The reward system helps to increase community participation. When a community member gives you (or another member) a reward for providing helpful advice or a solution to their question, your accumulated points will increase your status level within the community."

"Members may reward you with 5 points if they deem that your reply is helpful and 10 points if you post a solution to their issue. Likewise, when you mark a reply as Helpful or Solved in your own created topic, you will be awarding the respondent with the same point values."

I'm not sure how you used a discount "throughout my grade school and current high school career" that's only available to K-12 teacher or staff members unless you are being homeschooled. Even if you are, that may not be an option for badorno1221. If you are attempting to make a purchase as a college student, first of all your college/university will have to have a program with Apple for the discount (the discount is not available to just any college student). They will ask you for a student ID to log in to that school's store site...

The terms and requirements are available at Apple's online store:

Hey Douglas,

Sorry for the short history. I've used the discount through my mom, who is a administrator at a college, to purchase the items for our family. Not through myself directly, I should have clarified that above. However, she has never been prompted to enter an ID or any sort of password to go through with the purchase. All we would have to do is enter our zip code, navigate to our college's page, and then make the purchase.

o ok, well i have cleck "education discount" on the store site, then picked "I am a college Student" link or something to that nature, and then i selected my school. afterwards it pops up "Congradulations, your school has an apple store" or something similar wnd the link brings me to the apple store once more only with the college's banner at the top of the page and discounted prices. so when they said my school has a store and something about "administrators having the parts" i was worried that the laptop would get sent there.

ok while we are on the subject of buying a macbook, i guess ill ask my other questio:

is the 3 yr seveiuce agreement wotrth it? i really dont want to think a high end laptop will fall aprt after a year or two. if anybody has anycomments or anything i appreciate them
