Record a DJ Mix in Logic

o.k., here i am, trying to record a dj mix. Normaly i would use my minidisc recorder and audio cd recorder to do so. Now i want to use my mac for it.

But how do you do it? I've read all the other topics about recording a dj mix but i must say, it doesn't work for me. I've read that for this purpose you have to use garageband. IN either Garageband or Logic there is no incomming signal. I've hooked 2 jacks from the master output from my mixer to my soundcard(Firewire solo)to the unbalanced inputs.

Let me tell you the gear i use: 2 Pioneer CDJ800, 1 Pioneer DJM500, Macbookpro (read below) M-Audio Firewire solo, Logic Pro 7.2.3

I've tried to searc for any incomming signal in my logic trackmixer, but can't find it. Which region do i use for this?

Help!

you don't use a region. use an audio track. click on the R button on say audio track 1. check to make sure the inputs 1-2 correspond to your soundcard inputs and you should be able to hear the incoming signal/mix.

another point: have you selected the correct audio interface in Logic?

goto to the main audio menu>audio hardware and .......... (think that's the name) then make sure your m-audio solo is selected as the interface in the relevant dropdown menu.

hope that helps

Hi Rounik,

Thanx 4 the reply

I believe that when you select a audio track is is standard on input 1-2, right?

When you do so, you can here almost nothing, (there is something recorded, but not definable)

Could it be that i've plugged the master output in my mixer instead of the send output?

Regards,

Lewis

could be....

difficult to know without being able to see your setup.

is there a way to increase the levels of the input on your m-audio?

one way in logic is to slap a gain plugin onto your track1 (found under audio units>help(er)

then increase the volume level.

better to increase the levels from your cd/md player though.

hope that helps man. good luck.

o.k. I've tried it to plug it into the send space, and it works. I can now record a mix into Logic.

Only another problem showed up. I can only record for 15 minutes. I read a topic that somebody switched to 100bpm and recorded 79 min. After doing so i still could record only 15 minutes. Am i forgetting something?
