Mackie Universal or M-Audio Project Mix?

I want to use both Logic (asome program) and Pro Tools (Also an Asome program) with the same contoller. My Personal choices of control surfaces are The M-Audio Project Mix or The Mackie Universal. Both about the same price, Project Mix is alittle more. You can record with the Project mix which you cannot with the Universal.

I have a Mbox 2

Does the M-Audio Project Mix work good with Logic?

Can I use the Project Mix as only a Midi controller with Logic?

For example using The Project Mix as my control surface and having the Mbox2 be the Output for monitoring, I would like that best.

Is the Mbox2 easy and logical to make it the monitor output for Logic?

Does the Universal work good with Logic and PT?

I dont want a Tascam.

Suggestions, thoughts, experiences, and dreams, much appreciated!
