What does the error message you are getting when you try restoring your iPod? (that would be the best and first thing to do in this situation).

As a general troubleshooing step, try disconnecting your iPod from your computer, and put it into disk mode. To do that, follow the instructions here:

Restoring iPod to factory settings

Then, after the iPod is in disk mode, connect it to your computer to restore it.

Again, I'd like to know that that error message exactly said (if you are getting any error numbers with that message, those are important, too).

hey same thing happened to me! i plugged it in cuz i couldnt get it out of disk mode screen telling me i could eject it safely (when i first saw that, it wasnt plugged into anything) and so i wanted to restore original settings... it asked me to download an update so i did and now i have nothing on my ipod. i WOULD simply put everyting back but it has been erased from my comp so it doesnt show up in iTunes

same thing hapened to me, only i tryed syncing it again and it told me that my i pod was full, but the bar that shows how full it was only had orange(other) in it and there was no music, i restored it and tryed it one more time and now it will only download 2 or 3 songs before just stopping and telling me its ok to disconect
