default to zoom to fit in preview?

For some reason when I open large images by double clicking its icon and launching preview, the image defaults to opening at a zoomed in level.. is there a way to make this to default to "zoom to fit" to the size of the window?

On my Macbook it does this fine, but for some reason on my new macbook pro it isn't doing this.. is there a setting somewhere?
