iSync and Samsung U600

I'm the proud new owner of the samsung SGH-U600 mobile phone but at home I was disappointed to find out that iSync did not support the U600.

Are there workarounds or plug-ins to fix this problem? If i can't get it to work, the phone is of no (little) use to me.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It's a shame you didn't check for iSync compatibility on Apple's Official iSync Supported Devices page before buying the phone. Could've saved yourself some hassle...

No plugins are available for the Samsung U600 currently, and its possible there won't be until another iSync update, as the U600 works differently to the supported D600 and D900.

In addition to those on Apple's page, you can also add the phones from here and here.

Personally, for the best syncing experience I would recommend a Sony Ericsson model.

But for a better phone experience, the U600 takes the cake over most SE devices (KE790, 800i, etc) - which is why although I knew iSync didn't support the U600, I bought it. The lack of iSync interoperability didn't put me off to the rest of the phone's amazingness ⚠. It's a shame, but not surprising since the U600 is so new. Hopefully we will see it supported soon as I am in the same boat.

If you can't currently use the Samsung U600 with iSync, can you still use Bluetooth to transfer music and image files between the phone and an iMac? has anyone out there done this, and are there any problems involved?
I ask because i'm in the same boat, of having rather stupidly got one without checking compatability, and now i'm just trying to decide whether to send it back or not. If it turns out to be easy enough to transfer files with bluetooth i might as well just use that, although USB would be better.

Better phone experience? In what way?

The user interfaces of both Samsung and Sony Ericsson models are very similar (3x4 rows of icons, pop-up menus, navigable by a D-pad) except the center button goes to WAP, rather than selecting an option(!). You also can't use create and custom themes on a Samsung (just 2 in-built ones).

I have no problems bluetooth-ing files (photos, videos, calendar and address book entries) between Powerbook and Samsung D600 so unless they've radically changed the U600 Bluetooth spec you shoul be fine.

recently I upgraded to 10.4.9 as the new iSync version supports D600 over Bluetooth (but didn't need iSync in past to transfer image and video files). It shows up as device in iSync. I've tested with iCal and it syncs OK but recurring items in iCal are not transferred across. haven't checked address book syncing as don't want to risk all the contacts I currently have in the phone!

I don't really use the calendar or contacts, so should i just forget about iSync compatability or otherwise? I imagine all I'm going to want to transfer is some MP3s (which I'd probably just leave on there for some time) and then any photos I take. If you're basically saying that it's not going to take long to transfer half a dozen pics now and again using bluetooth i reckon i might as well just keep the phone.
