Have you "reprovisioned" your cable modem?
I called my ISP (Cox Cable) to complain about sporadic speed
decreases to about 1200 kb/s. She noticed that my Linksys modem had
not been "reprovisioned" since I installed it three years ago. She had
me unplug the modem and my Airport Extreme Base Station (N) while she
"reprovisioned" it. It took about five minutes. According to various speed test sites, my download speed is now 14000 kb/s, better than ten times faster.
ISP's should tell us that periodically we need to have them
"reprovision" our modems. Mike
