sender verify callout

I have a number of messages in my SMTP that have gotten "stuck" I am getting the error message
" Could not complete sender verify callout (in reply to RCPT TO command"

We have setup this server as STRICTLY an smtp server that is send mail relayed to it by our main mailserver.

For clarification. Are you saying this mail server can only send through your main server or only receive through your main server?

Can you also elaborate on 'where' these are "stuck" - post log output if applicable - and where/how the "error message" is being received. Logs will also identify what server(s) are issuing the sender verification checks.

From your postconf output, your server is pretty much a stock mailserver. It will relay from any of the IPs in your 'mynetworks' and will also relay by smtp authentication (from any IP). Hence requirement for clarification on relationship between your two servers (e.g. are they on two different public IPs). If this server's wan IP is open for incoming SMTP traffic then it could also be getting incoming spam directly to it, bouncing this back out to spoofed sender, and getting the sender verification error in return (from a server configured to do sender verification). Too many unknowns at the moment to narrow down possibilities.
