For a little over a month now. As far as I can see, nothing is blocking it. Windows firewall is off, but itunes is set as an exception anyway. Tried an uninstall and reinstall a few times, and even tried installing an older version, all to no avail. Using a LinkSys wireless router, but having the same issue when I hardwire directly to the modem.

Thanks for starting a new topic. A few questions:

    - What version of iTunes are you running?

    - What is the exact error message you're getting?

    - Do you have any other privacy filter installed, or any antivirus or antispyware software?

    - Can iTunes connect to Gracenote to get album names when you import from a CD?

It would probably be useful if you'll run the Network Diagnostics (choose the Run Diagnostics item under the iTunes Help menu) and post the results here.

    7.1.1.5

itunes could not connect to the itunes store. The network connection has timed out.

Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.

You know, I was just looking again after I read this, and it appears there is a program (Check Point Integrity Client) that could be causing an issue, but I'm not sure what IP address I would need to put in there.

it appears there is a program (Check Point Integrity Client) that could be causing an issue, but I'm not sure what IP address I would need to put in there.

Check Point could easily be blocking iTunes' access to the Internet. At minimum, these two domains need to be exempted from any Internet filtering:

    phobos.apple.com
    phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net

For Gracenote, it would be gracenote.com, I believe.

Weird. When I put those three addresses into check point, it found all of them except phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net

phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net is a domain, not a server, so if Check Point is expecting a single server with a single address, that domain won't work. Without knowing specifically which Check Point product you have, I can't say for sure what will work, but you can try ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net.

Alternatively, you can try completely disabling Check Point, at least long enough to try iTunes with the iTunes Store. If it then works, at least you know that Check Point is the problem, and perhaps the publisher's tech support would be able to help further.

It found ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net, but it still won't connect.

However, the prb is definitely check point, because when I turned it off, everything worked perfectly.

I'll poke around check point some more, but if youhave any further ideas regarding it, here is the version info:

    Integrity Flex version 6.0.202.000
    TrueVector security engine version 6.0.202.000
    Driver version 6.0.202.000

Thanks again for the time and help.

However, the prb is definitely check point, because when I turned it off, everything worked perfectly.

So it turns out it really wasn't Apple's problem after all. Not meaning to rub it in, but as I said before, by far the most common causes of problem with the iTunes Store aren't with either iTunes or the Store but some other third-party software, usually security software.

Anyway, I can't get access to the documentation for that product without having an account with the company, something I'm not willing to do. I can't even find out if you have the latest version of their software from their rather poorly-laid-out web site. You may need to contact their support group for further asssistance.

    Good luck.

I do indeed stand corrected. I'm going to poke around the program some more and see if there's something in there that I'm missing, but of course the good news is that I at least have a work around.

    Thanks again.
