Please Help Me Uninstall QT 7.1.6 & Return to 7.1.5

QT 7.1.6 Pro is a Mac-crashing nightmare - pls can somebody recommend how to return to dependable 7.1.5?

Hey Apple - Can you chill on the software updates a bit? Maybe fewer updates and more bug-fixing before releasing to the public?

Thank you

You really should consider resolving your problems and re-installing Quicktime 7.1.6 as soon as possible. Not doing so leaves you open to a really serious flaw that would allow someone to take over your computer without your knowledge simply by visiting a web site. Updates like these often expose existing problems the user was unaware of. If you would take the time to search these forums you would find that the "dependable 7.1.5" had just as many trouble reports as previous updates. You would also find that the reported problems are almost always the same.

Most users have not had any problems with this update.

"Most users have not had any problems with this update."

lkrupp - be realistic. Have you seen the absolute flood of users on here proclaiming numerous kinds of errors with upgrading to 7.1.6 an the fact that many of them can;t even open the software now.

This current upgrade is a nightmare for many a user.

A few helpful tips on working through the problems would be a step in the righ direction ffor apple instead of letting the discussion forums try to help each other. I can almost garauntee that Apple is aware of this but they have yet to post any solutions "officially."

I rely on Quicktime heavily, and have for years. But this release seems somewhat irresponsible of Apple.

As I said, if you would bother to do some searching you would find that reports on this update are no more numerous than any other Quicktime update. I have been in these forums for a very long time (seven years to be exact) and see the same things over and over again with every update, be it Quicktime or OS X. And yes the majority of users have no problems. If they did you wouldn't be able to even access this site. It would be locked up tight. Troubleshooting forums concentrate the negative. This is an extremely important update and should not be skipped if at all possible. Every effort should be made to fix existing issues. There are a number of excellent troubleshooting references posted by long time forum helpers as well as sites like http://www.macfixit.com to help people get their system in order so the update can be applied without issues.

I, too, have problems with this 'update' and would like to have information and solutions to the problems.

1. Why not help by posting those "excellent troubleshooting references" again?
2. Why chastise those of us who are having problems with it rather than helping?
3. Why not provide a solution/correction/update to the update that corrects the problem for those of us who are having problems with this 'update' if indeed it is such an important update?
3. Why not furnish information on returning to the previous version for those who do not want to continue using an 'update' that continually causes problems which the publisher refuses to recognize and/or correct and for which solutions are not offered to those who have problems with it?

One reply said that the problem was "answered" but so far that answer has not been shared or given.

I would appreciate some information and helpful steps to correct the issue/problem so that this 'update' could be useful and could be used. I do not need to be told how many others have not had any problems and/or how other updates have had its problems and/or how important the update is and/or how I should have read elsewhere the solutions.

Picking up pieces of suggestions from other replies, the only thing that so far is working for me was:
1. Completely re-installing Flip4Mac.
2. Completely re-installing QuickTime from the direct install at Apple Store.

This should NOT have to be done.
This is NOT an answer.
This does NOT fix a problem that QuickTime should fix in a new free release.

You are one of the lucky ones who has found a solution to resolve your issue yet, still unsatistied.

Please be advised that all complaints about QuickTime should be posted over on the QuickTime Feedback website.

Here's how I reverted to 7.1.5:

1. Back-up your computer's hard drive (so if there's problems during the re-installation later, you have everything saved).
2. Put in your original 10.4 disk, reboot, and hold the "C" key down to boot from the CD.
3. Do an "Archive and Install". This will save the previous system files to a folder called "Previous System" and re-install 10.4.0
4. Once 10.4.0 is installed, use Software Update/downloading to bring all your software back up to date, EXCEPT for QuickTime!
5. Download and install QuickTime 7.1.5 from: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime715formac.html
