ipod opens window explorer not itunes

Question

ipod opens window explorer not itunes

all of a sudden when i connect my 60 Gb Video ipod to the cable it no longer opens itunes and it opens a windows explorer window with all the contents of the ipod (cal,contacts,ipod control,notes,photos.etc).

What happened? Why wont itunes open anymore.

It does show up in itunes if i manually start it up.

I searched and didn't really come up with anything. I changed the drive letter to the highest letter on the computer,changed the auto play setting to take no action. Still doing it though...

anyone have any thoughts?

It sounds to me like you have the iPod set to manual transfer and not auto sync. Is this the case?

Also, do you have the iPod set to "open iTunes when this iPod is attached"?

That setting is on the main summary page.

If you have the iPod set to manual, that's why the window showing your folders shows up, and also why the disk use is selected and cannot be changed. With manual, disk use is a default setting.

Can't offer an explanation as to why iTunes doesn't open if you have that option checked though.

also enable disc use it checked and it looks like i can't uncheck it.

yes , both are checked off (manual and open itunes). I have always had these both checked off and it always worked until the other day, so it isn't that, but thanks for the reply.
