ipod nano 2nd gen not responding at all...

my second gen ipod nano was working for a while. then randomly every time i would connect it to my computer to add more songs to it, no songs would be in my library. now it just isn't working at all and my computer recognizes that its connected to the computer but wont recognize the device as an ipod and a found new hardware wizard will pop up and when i try to update the driver it cant find any. itunes does not recognize the ipod at all. i know that it has no battery life but theres no way i can charge it i have tried everything i could find on the apple website and these forums, etc. my ipod is not listed as anything under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers category in the device manager. it is listed under other devices. if the ipod was listed as something under the universal serial bus controllers then maybe i could update the driver. i cant pinpoint what the problem is and every solution that seemed like the answer was stopped short by some other problem. any that can give me a suggestion or some kind of help would be greatly appreciated because this is frustrating.

-thanks

Since you say you have tried everything listed in the articles and on this forum in regards to your issue I won't bother to post links to articles associated with what you describe. At this point if you truly feel you have exhausted all avenues your next option is to contact Apple for service/repair or go to your local Apple store for help if one is available near you.

Just would like to share with you, my experience with a friend's Nano with a smiliar problem

The battery level could be too low to boot up the OS of the iPod, which even may corrupted (if you see a folder icon).
The best way to fix it, is to connect it with different device other than your PC as it is likely not get charge at all, e.g.

1. car charger
2. ac charger
3. ipod speaker dock system
4. using firewire cable
5. with a Mac computer

The key is to charge the battery level up to the minimum for you to put your Nano into disk mode

once you see the "tick" mark, connect it with a computer, and try to do a Restore for your iPod. In case you still do not manage to get your iPod to be recognized by a PC, I am afraid you have to connect it with a Mac, very likely it will allow you to do a Restore as I did last night
