Airport Extreme and DSL/Modem Type

I have recently purchase an Airport Extreme, and looked forward to plugging it in, however, my DSL/modem has an input for the cable but no "out" cable connection to then plug into the airport extreme. I have been looking for such modems but cannot find any - any recommendations?

iMAC, Mac OS X (10.4.9), DSL/Modem Connection

njinnes, Welcome to the discussion area!

It sounds like you may have a DSL modem with only a USB output.

You will need a DSL modem which has an Ethernet output.

actually it does have a LAN output, and I use that to plug into the Airport Extreme LAN input and not the WAN one, hence it tells me I don't have a internet / modem connection.

What am I missing here - should the config I setup for the Aiport Extreme be network connection to the internet?

The DSL modem LAN output should be connected to the AEBS's WAN port.

I'm a little confused here guys, I thought an airpot extreme is a card that fits inside you Mac? It's the express that connects to a modem/router, or is this yet another Idiosyncrasy of Apple's that I have to get use too?

"AirPort Extreme" is Apple's title for 802.11g networking.

Therefore, there is an AirPort Extreme card which fits into a compatible Mac.

There are also several versions of the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).
