I keep getting this with my ipod AND it won't charge. I've tried a different usb cable thinking it might be a faulty cable, but that didn't work. I got a replacement battery and everything worked fine until it ran out of charge and now I'm back to 'Please Wait. Very Low Battery.'
What is the **** problem with this? Aaaargh, it's so frustrating. I've had my ipod video since November 05, so it's out of warranty.
REEEAAAD MEEEE!!! Alright so this just happened to my iPod and I spent like two hours trying to figure it out and I finally did. It's totally simple, by the way.
It won't charge because it doesn't have enough juice to start charging [crazy as that sounds] so it just continually resets it's self. You need to have it hooked up to your computer in 'disk mode'.
1. Take your iPod and plug it in to your USB port.
2. Hold down the select [center button] and the play button.
That's it, It might have to update your library but you shouldn't lose all your music. It worked for me so I'm hoping it can solve all of your guys' problems too. Good luck!
For some reason I'm still having trouble. Here is my preface:
I am getting the please wait very low battery screen. However, even when I reset the IPOD (menu/select) the apple screen doesn't come up. The screen just fades away then comes back to the low battery screen again. The IPOD will turn on when I plug it into an IPOD boombox charger, but when I unplug it it immediately dies. I haven't been able to get any of the aforementioned suggestions to work because I never get the apple screen while plugged into a computer.
Ok Ladies and Gents. I have used this method many many times. If you have this problem, do the following. It has worked for me on my 30GB 5th gen Ipod and several others too.
1. Toggle the hold switch a couple of times.
2. Hold Select and Play until your IPOD enters Disk mode.
3. If it is not already plugged into your computer, plug it in now, and let it charge for twenty minutes to an hour.
4. Reset it by holding menu and select.
You should now be able to access it again, and charge it up via your USB cable no problems.
Okay so Ime having this problem with my 30bg 5g. and it seems none of the answers here have worked. It says that dreaded ''PLease wait very low battery''
ive fixed alot of things before so i bought this ipod for $20 from my friend and i really need it to work.
ive tried plugging it in a resetting, but it just goes back to the same Low battery please wait screen..PLEASE I NEED HELP... anything that has worked for someone else? there is no warranty and genius bar said to take it to a repair shop, but i dont know of any...thanks for any helpful answers...all answers are heplful.
ok, listen up. Eveything that eveyone is saying about how to bring it back to life!! Is completely true, however. Persistence is key. If you keep doing it, it will eventually work! Mine has! Thanks to whomever thought of this! You sir are a genius and should be working for apple! Apple support very disappointed in you!! REMEMBER KEEP AT IT!! IT WILL WORK! I wonder if you guys can help me. Obviously my 80gb ipod classic is having the same issue. My first ipod died after five years of service, so I didn't take it too dramatic. However this is a refurbished one which I had only for four months, so you can imagine the frustration when this happened yet again!
It shows me a sad mac and advises to go to the ipo support page. Tried all the steps following:
1. restart, when apple sign comes on, restart again several times
2. when sign Please wait,very low battery comes up, uplugged from charger & pressed select & play buttons simultaneously - had to hold them for fairly long time till I managed to get to the disc mode
3. when in disc mode, i either got DO NOT DISCONNECT or OK TO DISCONNECT, either way both signs showed as charging my ipod
4. after appr. a minute, the charge has stopped - when it was on pc, it beeped, showed black ipod screen & whole process started again, when on ac charger, all the same without the beep
5. tried disconnecting before the beep & put on different charger but appr. after ten mins of charging it started all over again
6. tried to open the ipod, disconnected the cables from battery, clean the thing inside out, no burn marks are visible, put it all together after app. 10 mins but no change.. tried again and now put it together after about 30 mins rest
7. restarted, got to disc mode, put on ac charger, charged it for about 10 mins and then changed to DO NOT DISCONNECT.. stopped charging and giving me now the sad mac again.
I wonder if anyone knows why it won't continue charging. I ordered a new battery from ebay for a fiver, always handy to have anyways but doubt it's the root cause. New hd are available refurbished for about 40 quid, however don't want to get one until someone finds out whether it's the hd, mother board or something else? Please let me know if you found a solution, been ****** about this now five hours and read every single post and tried every single step, and can't get this thing to continue charging.
Changing broken screen ( 60gb,5G) I got myself in similar adventure like most of the people in this forum. Seeing usual sings and warnings (pls wait..vey low battery..etc. I tried charging from ipod player box starting in disk mode. it charged successfully - but still showing warning 'go to (this) apple site'.
Then I opened ipod and reconnect hard drive , which could be probable cure
for anybody who opened ipod for battery removal-replacement and wasn't careful enough.
It worked.

I had a 5th gen video ipod that was cycling between the monochrome apple logo and a blank screen when trying to charge it on the wall adapter, and getting the dreaded Very Low Battery message when plugged into a computer.
I tried various combinations of resetting, charging, banging it on a table, etc, none of which worked.
What did work was:
1. Plug into computer (actually worked on both PC and Mac) via USB cable.
2. Hold play and main button simultaneously for a good 10-15 seconds. Computer popped up an "allow attached device to go into disk mode" message and offered (in the case of the PC) to format it. I dismissed this message and let it sit on the charger for a while. (iPod reads "do not disconnect" message" at this time).
3. Once charged, the ipod still didn't work. I restored the software (which wipes out the ipod).
4. At that point it allowed me to set it up, sync music, etc. as if it were a brand new ipod.
5. I let it charge for several hours, to be sure.
6. It's now working fine.
I was this close to giving it to goodwill -- so thanks forum folks!
i have same problem but mine i get a 'Please Wait. Low Battery.' then a 'exclamation point with a sad ipod' show then goes to the 'apple logo' then goes to 'Please Wait. Low Battery.' again repeat itself over and over please help me..
What worked for me was to open up the ipod, make sure the contacts were all clean (mine had gotten wet and there was some rust and corrosion on the contacts) Put it all back together and it did the same blinking with low battery notification. I plugged it into my ipod doc and BANG! It worked! I suspect I may need a new battery, but no big deal I will take care of that...

I just put a brand new battery in and I am stuck between, low battery please wait, the apple icon or a sad face that says apple.com/support. I have had it plugged in everywhere....nothing!
I ordered a new battery from Amazon for my 30g ipod 5th gen video.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BDU6IU/ref=oss_product . Then I took the old battery out and waited 10 minutes just to be sure it reset everything. I then plugged in the new battery and it worked great. It takes a brave person to do this and you need to make sure your warranty has expired as mine had. You might even want to watch a tutorial on youtube on how to properly open your ipod. I then plugged the ipod up to my computer to charge the new battery and let it charge for over 4 hours as suggested. It works great now!!!!.
