'Please Wait. Very Low Battery.'

'Please Wait. Very Low Battery.'

I keep getting this with my ipod AND it won't charge. I've tried a different usb cable thinking it might be a faulty cable, but that didn't work. I got a replacement battery and everything worked fine until it ran out of charge and now I'm back to 'Please Wait. Very Low Battery.'

What is the **** problem with this? Aaaargh, it's so frustrating. I've had my ipod video since November 05, so it's out of warranty.

REEEAAAD MEEEE!!!
Alright so this just happened to my iPod and I spent like two hours trying to figure it out and I finally did. It's totally simple, by the way.

It won't charge because it doesn't have enough juice to start charging [crazy as that sounds] so it just continually resets it's self. You need to have it hooked up to your computer in 'disk mode'.

1. Take your iPod and plug it in to your USB port.
2. Hold down the select [center button] and the play button.

That's it, It might have to update your library but you shouldn't lose all your music. It worked for me so I'm hoping it can solve all of your guys' problems too. Good luck!

I'm very willing to open up the SOB but I need specific tools. Unless a flat head screwdriver will do the trick. Let me know your suggestions. I'd greatly appreciate it all these answers are giving me some hope although nothing has worked yet. I'm just glad I'm not alone. It just seems that everyone else has the problem fixed and I'm still struggling aka SOL. Thank you so much. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I have a similar problem with my G5 60gb ipod. It will charge completely from a wall charger and in an ipod stereo dock and even play music when on the stereo dock, but as soon as I disconnect it, the screen fades to nothing then will not work. When I connect it to my computer it reads "Please Wait. Very Low Battery" despite the fact that it just read completely "Charged" when plugged into the wall moments before. It does not appear in Itunes when it is connected to my computer.

I have tried resetting it numerous times to no avail. I don't know what to do and it is no longer under any warranty. Help?

It IS a hard drive problem...
I was having the same problem...so I took my hard drive out and put it in a working ipod.
same everything 80gb yada yada...
it did the same exact thing and when I put the other hdd back in it was fine but mine was dead weight...
so that leaves us unfortunate people with the option of a) buying a new hdd for round $90 to $150 or getting a new ipod...
I pref the new hdd because the new model ipods are built with flash memory...not my fav.

I tried your method and was able to get it into disk mode. It looked like it was charging, but the screen stayed lit. After a couple of minutes, it went back to the same cycle of apple logo, backlit unhappy icon/applesupport, and "Please Wait... Very Low Battery." It would pause for a bit on the last stage, but the cycle would always start up again. How can it ever charge if it won't stop going through that process even in disk mode? If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I'm doing a solo cross-country drive next week, and it's going to be really painful if my iPod isn't working.

ok my problem is still not solved. When i pluy the ipod 5gen into my laptop i get the "please wait low battery sign..."

When i plug the ipod into an outlet with a/c adapter the apple logo will load up and the ipod will carry out as usual.
However right when i disconenct the ipod from either the laptop or the outlet, the ipod compltetly shuts down. No juice is in the battery.
I have gotten the ipod into disk mode one in the outlet, and i let it chrage four about 5 hrs, but as soon as i unplug the cable, the ipod stops. I have 2 new battery, I have used it for doing the fixing. However both new battery seems to not work, if i can't "jumpstart" the battery.

What a *****.

Someone find a solutionand tell me.

1. Plug ipod in to charge (get the 'very low battery message)
2. Hold MENU and MIDDLE button to reset it (while its 'charging')
3. When the screen goes blank pull the cable out (before the ipod reboots)
and i got a glowing apple then a menu the battery was very low but is charging fine now
4. You probably want to charge it 🙂

This worked for me and i was friggin happy! Hope it does the same for you guys.

I am having similar problems to the original poster. Wasn't sure if anyone had found a resolution. To describe the issues I have and what I have attempted to do to fix this I have explained below.

I have an IPOD CLASSIC 160 never been dropped or any other damage. Have had it since December 2007.
Symptoms:
1. IPOD no longer turns on if unplugged
2. IPOD if plugged into computer is locked on the screen stating "Charging, Please Wait" and it doesn't leave this screen. It is not found on my computer or on iTunes. If I then hold onto reset long enough sometimes it will reset and iTunes will read it and try to restore it. While the "Preparing for Ipod Recovery" window enters my screen the bar fills up to about 90% and then no longer reads the iPod and goes back to "Use iTunes to Restore" screen.
3. IPOD plugged into wall adapter I get the "Use iTunes to Restore". From here I can reset the iPod and get it into Disk Mode.
4. IPOD plugged into external battery (Kensington Mini Battery Pack) just stays on "Charging, Please Wait" screen.

Currently it is plugged into the wall adapter and in Disk Mode I am trying to see if it will charge in this fashion

I have taken it into an Apple store and they were not much help. This item has never been opened.

Any help from anyone. Thinking of having it looked at for an estimate but before I do I wanted to see if anyone could help. I appreciate any assistance.

READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did all the solutions other people have tried on here, but I got mine to work by plugging my ipod in and then when the please wait, very low battery thing comes up, disconnect it and then then click a button, as soon as the black apple logo comes up, plug it back in. It should freeze at the apple logo. Then hold the select(center) button and the play button which will send it into disk mode and it will charge. This is the only thing that worked for me.

Thanks for this post! I just tried it after giving up on my ipod (5th gen 30G) months ago due to this very problem and it worked.

I manually replaced the battery earlier today (for $12), yet i kept seeing the "battery very low..." message (and I slightly messed up my screen when i popped the ipod open so *do this at your own risk*. i had a broken ipod, no longer had a warranty, & therefore nothing much to lose). I kept holding down the select and menu option till I saw that same message appearing after each reboot. Then I unplugged the ipod from the usb and held down the select & play/pause button--the "Do Not Disconnect" screen appeared and i immediately plugged the usb back in, at which point iTunes was able to pick up my ipod and began uploading music again!!! Very happy for the time being--I just saved myself $200something bucks!

I've been searching everywhere to try and find someone who's had a similar problem to this.

I replaced my battery and my ipod won't do anything. When i charge it from the wall, it just goes into the black screen with gray ipod (no backlight) and does nothing. When i connect through the USB cable to the computer, i get this... blackscreen gray logo (no backlight) and if i press any buttons, i get the white screen of death (go to apple.com/support/ipod) and then it dies. interestingly, sometimes it'll go to very low battery, please wait... so i wait and it goes back to the blackscreen and the cycle starts all over again.

I've hard reset the thing probably a million times now. Has any else experienced this? Any way to get it around it?

Before my ipod's battery really died, i was getting something similar to this. So i just left the ipod alone for a week or two, it died have enough charge to show the black screen even. So i plugged it and it charged fine lol until it died again a week later lol. I'm wondering if this may work again now since I've got a brand new battery in there. Just seems a shame to have to wait since I'm so close lol

Any ideas? any experience anything similar to this

Just piping in with what seems to have worked for me...it was helpful for me to read other's suggestions with different wording, so hopefully this adds to the discussion.

For me, having a USB and a wall adapter seemed to do the trick.
1. Plug flailing iPod into your USB port. You should see the Apple screen, followed by the frowny iPod, followed by the infamous "Please Wait. Very Low Battery" message. I always got this sequence consistently when plugged into the PC; this was not so when initially plugged into the wall adapater.
2. Leave it at the "Please Wait. Very Low Battery" message screen for a bit, maybe 10-15 seconds. I did not find a need to repeatedly repeat steps 1 and 2 as others have suggested.
3. Unplug your iPod.
4. Press Select and Play, and hold them down for dear life. This is what I didn't really get until recently; I was always pressing a button first to get to the Apple screen, and THEN pressing and holding Select and Play. I consistently got it into disk mode by holding Select and Play from a completely blank screen at this step.
5. You should notice that the Apple logo lingers for quite awhile while the iPod makes buzzing sounds. When "OK to disconnect" appears, plug it into your wall adapter. I found that if you plug it into your USB port at this point, "OK to disconnect" will change to "Do not disconnect", and that your iPod will revert to the cycle cited in step 1. I'm currently charging with my wall adapter, and have been doing so for about 10 minutes.

Not too sure where I'll go from here, but it definitely appears to be progress. Will keep you posted.
