LaserWriter 4/600 PS PRINTING PROBLEMS

When I print to my 4/600 it prints in all streaks of grey ( test page of pure black). The toner has been topped up.

What is the problem please?

Can it be fixed please?

Like on other stylus 740, is there a auto check, is there one on the 4/600?

Also how to I get it to print on OSX 10.3 please?

Thanks in advance!!

Auto Check:

There is a lever underneath. It is slightly toward the center from the position of the status lights, in a slot that runs from front to back. Pressing it will cause the "marking engine" to print a full page of Vertical lines, about 6 lines/inch. The controller, which handles PostScript, communication, etc. is bypassed for this test. Problems with this test are in the "printing" portion, not in the "imaging/communication" portion of the printer.

More Test Pages:

If you have a Mac that can run Classic, Apple Printer Utility runs under Classic and can print test pages, font samples, and allow you to set printing options. It is available for download from the older Software Downloads page.

Are you using North American English System? If you cannot find it in your language, post your System Language and someone can help you find the download.

Mac OS X support:

This is a Postscript level 2 Printer, and is supported by Mac OS X Printer Drivers. It is an AppleTalk/LocalTalk printer, and mac OS X does not directly support LocalTalk. To print under Mac OS X requires a Protocol Converter that can translate AppleTalk-over-Ethernet to AppleTalk/LocalTalk.
