Itunes sync on dual processor

We're sharing a house with my brother. I have Itunes on a Mac, he has it on PC so my understanding is that we can't share tunes. I'm debating buying a a new intel duo processor IMac -- would I be able to run parallel Itunes on this machine? This would mean still not sharing, but at least having one computer at home with two versions of ITunes? Thx
