Plugging in iPod causes vista to crash

are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPS ANDUNDERSCORES)

if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
