I've bought a ipod nano nd generation one week ago. When i first came home, i could connected it to my computer, it charged and sync. It play music and works all right but... 3 days later, when i wanted to recharged and change the music list, it wasn't recognized anymore, either by the itunes nor by the computer.
I've tried to connected it in others computers, even a ibook, and it didn't work.
Then i've tried the five steps, but my ipod don´t even reset.
There's someone there that could help me? P L E A S E

pentium, Windows XP Pro

I know!!! It worked just fine one day, computer recognized it and i could add or remove songs at me leisure, but now I can't even charge it on a computer becasue it doesn't exsist to it. I also tried the five steps, but you can't restore the settings on it if the computer can't find it. Finally I had my sister bending the charge piece in the ipod just for it to show up, I restored it and it didn't make a bit of difference! I lost all 800 songs on it but I still can't charge it or add songs. If you find anything out, let me know!!!

Me too. My second nano. The first one the display quit and warrenty sent me another. Now this one isn't recognized by any computer - Mac, Windows or the AC plugin charger. It's full of songs and I can listen to them. I charge it by using a DLO car charger-player which is the only thing that sees the Nano to charge it or play the songs other than the headphones. Won't charge via USB. I'll be watching for a solution to the problem. Sorry I can't help other than to keep what I have going.

I justra can't do it. It won't go to disk mode, it won't reset, absolutly nothing happens. I can only listen to the music that are already there. I've already try all this. Seriously, this is my first one and i think the last one. Next time i'll buy a Sony. It is not so pretty and fancy but at least it works for more than 3 days !

Maybe I'm confused, but when you play music all your controls work on the click wheel, but when you toggele the hold switch on then off, and hold the menu and center button down for 6 seconds it doesn't reset?

EXACTLY ! Isn't that extremely odd?? I can do anything !!! I can choose a music, an album, an artist. I can change the volume, i can shuffle music, i can turn it off, ANYTHING !!! But not reset o set it into disk mode.
