Does restore ipod delete all files

Hi and thanks for reading this just found the forum hope someone can help us out
The family computer being used has changed from a mac to a windows pc. I want to transfer my songs on my ipod to itunes on the new pc ( the old mac is gone 😟 ) it tells me i can change to windows by restoring the ipod disk . My question is does this mean all my files on the ipod will be wiped out and back to zero or is it just the ipods opearting system gets changed over
Hope this makes sense and someone can help i have nearly 30 gb of songs and really dont want them wiped !!

Yes, the restore feature for iPods is designed to completely wipe out the contents of the disk.

Unfortunately, while a Mac is capable of reading a drive that was set up to be read by Windows, Windows is incapable of doing the reverse. That means that if your iPod is set up to be used purely with a Mac, Windows will not be able to read its contents.

If you want to retrieve the contents of your iPod, you will likely have to either use someone else's Mac to do so.
