I can put it in disk mode, but when I try to reset it after I've gone through the disk mode steps, it will not reset and goes right back to the "Blinking Apple of DEATH!"Inspiron 9400, Windows 2000
Currently Being ModeratedMay 16, 2007 7:18 AM (in response to Fern Edwards1)I had this today as well. I think it might be related to low power. While attached to the Mac It cycled between Apple screen with backlight, you could hear the disk trying to spin up, Apple screen without backlight and extremely low battery screen. It wouldn't mount on the mac. This was after being on charge for at least an hour.
What seems to have solved it is this; while it is attached to the Mac, put it manually into Disk Mode. (by holding down select and play at the same time) This allowed the mac and iTunes to see it. Eject it but leave it connected to the Mac. Then reset it. (hold down menu and select for 6 seconds)
Now it's back to a normal colour charging/do not disconnect screen. I'm going to let it charge before disconnecting again.MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.9), 30Gb 5gen iPod
