How do I delete and reinstall iCal?

For some reason, after years of working reliably, today, my iCal stopped syncing correctly with my phone. I've tried deleting my phone--re-adding it to iSync, I've tried deleting my calendars and re-building them. I've tried reverting back to old calendars from BACKUP. Nothing has worked. I am running 10.4.9 but I have ran that since it was released without any problems at all. I am going nuts trying to sync my Nokia E62 with my computer----nothing has worked.
So, I was thinking I would delete iCal and re-install it. Good idea? Bad idea? Anyone else have any suggestions? I would HATE to have to do a clean install of the OS just to solve this problem---but is that where I'm headed??
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Ferd , Thank you very much for the suggestion. Actually, I did that---I reset all info. on the phone and it still is not syncing properly with iCal. Also, I have two phones to work with, a Motorola RAZR and the Nokia E62---on both of the phones, it looks as if the iCal has synced but the updated information that is on the phone is not showing on my iCal Home calendar. It's very odd. ANyway, if you have another suggestion I am all ears! THANK YOU!!
