iSight not working with Ustream or Stickam

I've tried to broadcast a live video feed on Ustream (Ustream.tv) using my in-built iSight camera.

The little Flash dialog comes up asking if I want to allow Flash to have access to my camera and microphone. I accept/allow.

Nothing happens though. I wait a while, but nothing.

I've e-mailed Ustream and they don't seem to know what the problem would be. I don't know of anyone else having the problem.

I found Stickam (stickam.com) and tried using that. But same thing; I accept the Flash dialog and nothing happens.

All my software has the latest updates.
Using Firefox on an iMac G5.

Web sites like Stickam.com (and the many other live video sites) have unique requirements. The FAQs or Help links at their sites should give you the best answers for your compatibility, configuration, and operating questions concerning their particular operations.

A search of iSight Discussions for Stickam returns several threads, including this one:

This thread (topic) offers details and solved the Stickcam problem of another user.

You should be able to apply the same approach for your "Ustream" and other streaming video website problems.

Hi djsteen,

Go to System Preferences > Quicktime
Go to the Advanced tab
Is Enable Flash Selected ?

Also check the MIME Settings button.
In the Miscellaneous option check Flash is On there as well.

had the same problem. Fix for mine was:
in the pop up window that shows what you are streaming (or not in this case)
control-click on the grey box where the video should be.
select settings
click on the webcam icon and change the video from DV to firewire or USB.
video should now appear

Ralph Johns (UK), Thanks! None of those things were ticked so I did all that. But it still didn't work.
Although no doubt it aided in the process - a combination of this and Scott Hayes idea solved my problem.

Just checking as people say "everything upto date" and they miss the main one, better to be safe then sorry.
