Weird ATT****.txt attachments when sending email

I have the same problem. Sending 'plain text' emails eliminated the ATT*.htm files, but it still sends an ATT*.txt file. The contents of this file (when viewed in textedit) is simply a plain text version of the email that I'm replying to.

The attachment does not show up in my sent emails, but the person I've sent it to does get it. Someone please help, my clients find this very annoying.

Please email me as you would your boss, and let me see this attachcment. I think I have remembered seeing them, but bring back into focus. My email address can be found by clicking on my name, and looking in the Bio line of my Profile.

For now, I request that only you and not the others send the test messsage.

I was wondering if you were able to identified the reason for the problem described in the message thread. I am having the same problem, and I have only noticed that other people are having the same one, but haven't identified an answer to it.

I think apple should help us all in here; it is important to notice that our use of Mail.app or perhaps even the Mac OsX platform for the regular use of our corporate activities is at stake here, since we are having communication problems with our sent e-mails. This is really important for me; I 'll highly appreciate the effort that someone dedicate to assist all of us with this matter.

My reply to your email resulted in an error message that your .mac address was an unknown or illegal alias?

My response in the email was:

I do not find that I ever got a test email from "Brave New Media", and did not pursue. I will try to find what I need to "shake" my memory about this, if you cannot produce an example, reliably.

I am presently trying to find some old messages, but not too successfully. Do you use a Signature, and does the Signature have Rich Text or HTML in it?

If I can receipt an example of this attachment, I think I can diagnose.

Is there a common email program that the RECIPIENTS are using? (outlook? outlook express{ick}...versions?)

This shouldn't be a reason to abandon Apple mail, just because the recipient sees an additional attachment.
If they opened this file in their Windows mail viewer, it would most likely me the text of your original message.

I think...it Sounds like Mail is simply doing what it's been told.
Sending a multi-part text and HTML email.
The receiver's program displays the multi-parts in a different fashion than expected. (and the att's will be invisible to appleMail senders and recipients)

Have any of the admins in this thread contacted an admin at the receiver's end to confirm that this is the case?

thanks for responding. I only use the apple ID but don't have an active .mac account.

Attending your questions, I do use a signature for my message sent on mail.app, which is in Plain Text (Arial 14 just like my message body).

The situation (problem described in the thread) has occurred to me when I used to have my message body predetermined as Rich Text, which forced me to change to Plain Text thinking that it was the problem, but now that I am using Plain Text, I have noticed it is also happening.

Attending your inquiries, I comment you that I have noticed the error in MS Outlook, in the case when I have copied someone in the e-mail message from my own organization. I am unaware which e-mail application is used by other recipients with whom I have had this problem.

This is what I was trying to explain. I believe that Outlook as displaying the text portion of your message as an additional attachment. You may be sending your messages as mutli-part...this is normal.

Outlook users will see an additional attachment from Mac users.
This is not a reason to believe that...

You should endeavour, where possible, to determine the email program of the people who are telling YOUR people that a mystery attachment is being seen at THEIR receiving end.

I take that back. I started CCing my work email account (where we run MS Outlook on Windows). And even though I've been following their guideline, I'm still getting the attached txt file.

Back to square one, I guess.

Yes, I always apply the Windows Friendly check mark.

These guys seem to have come upon a solution that makes sense. I've been using it lately and it seems to work.
