Movies and TV shows unavailable from the UK itunes store

I've searched through the discussions and it seems that many people have had the same problem as me regarding buying movies and tv shows from itunes in the UK.

As no one seemed to have an answer for when these would be available I rung apple support three weeks ago and was told that the service of downloading videos from the itunes store would definitely be available in 2-3 weeks time and that I was not to worry about this problem because it was soon to be resolved. It is now 3 weeks after the phone call and still no signs of the video option and no signs of my problem being resolved.

I was hoping that someone here would be able to provide a solution to the problem. I've had an ipod video for 18 months now and have not been able to use the product that was advertised when I bought it - that product being an ipod on which one can play videos. I haven't been able to find anywhere on the ipod video information on the apple website any fine print which states that "this video ipod is availabe to buy in the UK but you actually won't be able to play videos on it, as is advertised by the website".

I can accept that there are licensing issues with making movies and TV shows available outside the USA but I wish there was more forewarning for customers so that someone like me would have known that even after 18 months of having an ipod video I am yet to be able to watch video on it. There is no "apple accepted" alternative way of getting videos on to the ipod because I'm sure that apple always want their customers to buy what they play on their ipods from the itunes store. The thing that I cannot accept is that I was lied to on the telephone about the video situation and that apple have still not clearly stated on their website that is not possible to legitimately get videos on to an ipod outside of the USA.

I'm hoping that someone can provie me with an answer on whether I will ever be able to buy movies and tv shows from the itunes store to put on my ipod which I paid the same amount, if not more, than a customer in the USA who is able to.

That's because the iPod in question does playback videos.

I have them on my iPod. A couple of music vids purchased from the UK iTunes store, and a whole host of other video content.

"even after 18 months of having an ipod video I am yet to be able to watch video on it."

If your iPod doesn't play videos as you state, take it back because it's broken.
