Is 1000rpm fan speed abnormal?

I've had my ultimate iMac for about a month now. Yesterday when I set it up after moving from school I noticed that the CPU fan always seems to be running now at 1000rpm and I can hear it, I've never noticed the fan noise before is this abnormal? Would it be necessary to reset anything? I've monitored the temps of the computer and they all seem to be normal, nothing over 200.

Thanks!

As the ambient noise of your environment changes, you are more keen to hear the Mac as well. Sunday morning is very quiet here in our barrio and I can usually hear the slight whosh of the fans if I listen for them, which I can not hear any other day of the week!
Except this morning, it is pouring rain, the front door is open and I can't even hear my own typing.
