Bluetooth keyboard with PS3

I've paired my Apple aluminum BT keyboard with my PS3, but failed to pair a BT Mighty Mouse. I had the same result as you: the PS3 briefly flashes a pass key and then displays "An error occurred during the register operation. Try to register again. (80110302)."

I encoutered the same problem with my mighty mouse and ps3... error 80110302...
Does someone have a fix for it or did someone read a topic written by playstation regarding the problem ?

No fix I can find. I got my old white Apple Woreless Keyboard to work (NB: took about 15 tries for some stupid reason, I made sure no other BT devices on, etc...finally just worked)

I can also only report the same junk with the mouse. PS3 asks for a passkey and don;t even have time to enter it on the keyboard)

All I can conclude is that the PS3 sees the mouse, but perhaps thinks it's a keyboard since it asks for a passkey??

ONE THING I DID NOTICE in the Apple Wireless Keyboard manual that for some silly reason you must hav a USB mouse plugged into your iMac during registration for the mouse to register with the iMac - I'll try plugging in a USB mouse into my PS3 and see if that does anything (but I don;t see why this would work on a PS3)

If it works, believe me, I'll let everyone know b/c this is pretty frustrating.

BTW I am entering this on the PS3's browser using the Apple kb so I can confirm that at least that works 🙂

I just got an apple aluminum bluetooth keyboard to use with my PS3. It paired perfectly and works great. The only minor issue is the caps lock light does not light up on the caps lock key when it is pressed. The caps lock function works, just no light. Are you other PS3 users having this problem or do I have a faulty keyboard.

I'll be interested in your results a week or so from now. Since the ps3 2.x releases, I've been able to pair my aluminum keyboard. Sometimes... For awhile...

After a few days (<1 week), the keyboard just won't connect anymore. I have to delete the pairing, and then go through a ritual of turning on and off the keyboard and/or the ps3 until they pair again. The hassle is that the pairing will error out with a 80110302 error. Sometimes the ps3 outright rejects the passkey, sometimes the ps3 won't even acknowledge the passkey and times out, sometimes the ps3 just locks up. Once they finally pair, it works great for a few more days.

I don't have any of these problems with either of the bluetooth headsets I use.

Thats interesting. I'll let you know if I start having those problems.

So how bout it, Does your Caps Lock Key light up when you use it with your PS3?

No, it does not light up for me either.

I had the same problem you were taking about. The keyboard lost it's pairing and I got the error message a few times before I could re-pair it. I realized I had just installed the latest PS3 patch right before. It has not given me any trouble since. Perhaps the update caused the keyboard data to becoame corrupted. Just a thoought.

I can't get my PS3 to even see my white bluetooth keyboard. It just keeps scanning...

I dont think that's a pairing mode on the original bluetooth keyboard, is there? Should the PS3 just see it? The keyboard connects fine with my MBP.

Any ideas?

I think I have a solution to the keyboard becoming unpaired with the PS3. If you turn the keyboard on while the PS3 is off, it will become unpaired. So I guess you just have to make sure you turn the ps3 on first and then the keyboard. That's my theory anyway.

In the past month, has your theory held up? If so, do you explicitly turn the keyboard off before turning off the ps3? I let the keyboard go to sleep on its own and I have random disconnects. I'll try this manual on/off procedure (if I can remember!), but I'd be interested in your experience.

So far so good. I turn on the PS3 then the keyboard.
When shutting down, I power off the keyboard (hold the power button for a few seconds) then the PS3.
