Automatic panning!!!!

Automatic panning!!!!

Whenever I send a song to iTunes, Garage Band puts each track on a left or right channel of it's choosing and it sounds like crap! The drums play only through one speaker, etc. I did not touch the panning. This is ticking me off!

20" Intel C2D iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.9), 2.16ghz, 2gb ram and one pesky pixel

You probably have the tracks set to stereo. Seeing that each instrument is probably a mono instrument you should set the tracks to mono.

No, the drums are garage band drums played on a keyboard, and my guitars and vocals are all mono (channel one). And it sounds super tinny in iTunes unless I have Volume Logic turned on, so it's going to sound super tinny to everyone else. It's just really lacking fullness. There's got to be something I'm missing...

Well this does sound like a problem. So does it sound fine when you listen to it in garageband?

It sounds better in garage band, and of course, there's no VL in garage band. I'm not getting the depth of sound from my guitar in garage band (I'm running through a Line 6 amp rather than GB effects) that I expect, either. Like I said, really tinny. I tought the mix down would make it better, but it's actually worse in iTunes. Like I said, though, it doesn't sound half bad when Volume Logic is running! Man, recording is not the same as jamming on my acoustic at the park!!!

Hi,

Whenever I send a song to iTunes, GarageBand puts each track on a left or right channel of its choosing.

GarageBand doesn't do any arbitrary panning or volume changes on its own.

You're right, as far as the left-right thing, it weems my headphones were playing tricks on me. I listened a little closer and it was OK.
