    Hi,

May I know the color of the status indicator on the iPod ...when you try to switch on the iPod or press the play button ?

    Regards.

mine is doing this too, the status light doesn't come on even though the status light turns green in cradle to indicate charged.

I am having the same problem. I have tried the 5 r's. My ipod doesnt want to charge all the way. I left it on the charger and it never turns green while its docked but when I eject my shuffle and turn it on it stays green for a couple of seconds the goes off. I put in my headphones and hit play but no green indicator that it recognizes play. I see green when I push volume up and down and when i hit forward and backward. But no green light for the play button. I turn off my shuffle, wait 5 seconds, turn it back on and see a green light for a couple of seconds then it goes off. I've checked my headphones, they work fine on other devices. They arent "Ipod headphones" I lost those but they've worked in the past. My only guess is that I left it in my car during the day, but I cant believe it got hot enough to do any damage. It syncs just fine and it recognizes music. Please help me.

a little of this a little of that   Windows XP

Did these headphones work with the shuffle before your current problem began? Does the plug have a metal base?

My ipod is not turning on at all anymore. No lights no matter what I do. I've tried everthing possible. I've docked it into 5 different USB ports and 3 computers and no matter what I do there is no result. There is no lights no nothing. My only guess is that I have to replace it. Does anyone know how much it will cost me to replace my Ipod second generation. I live in Quebec, Canada in Huntingdon. About 45-60 minutes south of South East of Montreal I think. I really wish I could just get it replaced for free or cheap or even fixed. Any one know a place around where I live that could fix it maybe? Anyway I don't wanna pay more then 30-40$. By the way I got it around last Christmas so about 6-7 months ago. I don't wanna pay all kinds of money just to get it fixed if I can buy a new one from the store 30 minutes from here. Any ideas from any one please??

    Thanks a lot. Very Appreaciated.~~Sincerly, Mike~~

Where are you in Colorado? There are Apple Stores around Denver and you can make a Genius Bar appointment there.

IF it's a 2nd Gen shuffle (the forum this is posted in...) then the dock may be the cause of the problem. IF you got it "6-7 months ago" it should still be under warranty. http://depot.info.apple.com/ipodshuffle/

    Nearest Apple Store is:

Here is an article from the apple support website that might help.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302110

If the ipod will not take a charge then the ipod can be set up for service via the ipod service website: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod

From the article you posted, the correct shuffle service
URL would appear to be (same as I posted...):

    Take heed and act quickly:

"Please note that in North America a 29.95 USD shipping and handling fee will apply to all in-warranty repairs that are performed 180 days from your iPod shuffle date of purchase. This fee may not apply in other regions. If you've purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod, you will not be charged a shipping and handling fee."

Nope it's not the dock. My mother's shuffle is working with the dock just fine.
