Focus Enhancements DTE audio inseperable

I shoot with the JVC HD100 and have the Focus Enhancements Firestore DTE DR - HD100 that is designed for my camera. When I edit in the timeline I'm unable to adjust one of the audio channels without affecting the other in the same way. Do I have a setting wrong in FCP or is this a quirk with my hard drive recorder? I only experience this problem with the firestore device. I've tried moving the qt file to another hard drive but still have the problem, but only with files originally recorded on the firestore. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
